We’re looking forward to meeting many of our Florida Occupational Therapists fact-to-face next weekend at the Florida Occupational Therapy Association’s Annual Conference in Orlando. Celebrating 100 years of Occupational Therapy, FOTA17’s schedule is jam packed with Education Sessions, dynamic speakers, a yoga sessions, and an awards ceremony on November 3rd and 4th.

As the “respected authority on occupational therapy’s contribution to health and well-being in Florida,” FOTA continually works to support and advance the profession while making strides to better serve consumers.

In just a few weekends, over 15,000 speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and speech, language, and hearing scientists will be descending on Los Angeles, CA for the 2017 Annual Convention of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. From November 9th to the 11th, four of our team members will be at the Los Angeles Convention Center meeting Speech-Language Pathologists face-to-face to provide career advice, help them find jobs, and to learn more about the challenges facing rehab facilities today. Established in 1925, ASHA is the national professional, scientific, and credentialing association for 191,500 members and affiliates. ASHA’s primary mission is to empower and support audiologists, speech-language pathologists, and speech, language, and hearing scientists by advancing science, setting standards, fostering excellence in professional practice, and advocating for members and those they serve.

This month we’re thrilled to introduce you to another outstanding team member in the third installment of our Employee Spotlight series. Sarah Williams started at Jackson over six years ago as a Credentialing Coordinator where she completed background checks and licensure verification on new therapists, eventually transitioning into her current role as one of our National Recruiters. Sarah’s positive, go get ’em attitude permeates everything she does, whether she’s boxing alongside her peers at UFC Gym or running alongside her co-workers in our annual 5k. A few weeks ago while in between assignments, Erica joined her best-friend and flew to Barcelona for a 10-day cruise through the Mediteranian before continuing on a solo journey through Indonesia and London for four more weeks. After such an incredible trip, we were thrilled when Erica shared some of her most memorable moments with us. But first, a little background on one of our favorite therapists..

Erica has been a nanny her entire adult life and had consistantly sought out positions that not only required her skill set, but allowed her the flexability to be on the road and to continue her education. Erica has always wanted to travel. In fact, she needs to travel. So, finding a career that not only allowed her to travel the country, but required it was right up her alley.

Not only do we get to meet Georgia Occupational Therapists face-to-face, but we get to travel north of the Florida border where leaves change to a color other than brown. Celebrating their 100^th year anniversary, GOTA’s conference is being held next weekend at the Medical Center of Central Georgia from October 6^th to the 7^th. As the primary advocacy organization for occupational therapy in Georgia, GOTA serves as a resource and educator for Georgians, policy makers and practitioners related to the practice of occupational therapy across the State of Georgia.
